Let's dig through time to explore the history of the Star of Mangaroon project!

The story begins in 1956 when Allan McDonald, the local farmer of Mangaroon Station, stumbled upon valuable resources underground.

His discovery sparked a flurry of activity, with seasoned prospector, Ernie Munns joining forces.

By 1960, McDonald and Munns had sunk two shafts into the ground, marking the beginning of a remarkable journey. 

Despite the challenges of transporting ore to remote state batteries, their hard work paid off, yielding an initial haul of 145 ounces of gold—a promising start to their endeavor.

Over the years, the mine proved to be a profitable venture, earning a total of $20,000 (in 1960's figures) from 1400 ounces of gold.

Today, Dreadnought Resources is honouring the legacy of these pioneers by further exploring the untapped potential of this area.
